Website Statement of Purpose*
The purpose of the District 18 Website is to serve the A.A. membership and the trusted servants of our region by providing information about groups/meetings within the District and about our collective service efforts. As such this Website is an outreach tool: a means to serve the still-suffering alcoholic, to assist A.A. visitors, and to offer venues for serving our Fifth Tradition.
At the inception of this Website in 2004, the District expressed the further hope that this new medium might help elicit fresh interests in A.A. general service among our members.
The specific features and content of this Website are subject to ongoing appraisal and reform by District 18 voting members--namely GSR's and their elected District servants. The information placed here comes at the discretion of the current DCM, the respective committees and group representatives, which are severally responsible for the accuracy of the information. Errors in or amendments to the Website content may be reported by email to the District 18 Webmaster.
Changes or alterations in the substance of this Website are the responsibility of the serving District 18 Webmaster, but the directives for such changes come exclusively from the respective GSR's and/or District servants or committees which request them.
The Website, its domain name (<aadistrict18.org>), and any associated tools or materials associated with its creation are the responsibility of District 18. Consistent with A.A.'s Seventh Tradition, District 18 assumes payment of expenses for its custody and maintenance; its billing is handled by the District Treasurer and its technical upkeep is handled by the District Webmaster.
District 18 at this time permits local contact information to be made available on the site, but with respect to our Twelfth Tradition publishes no individual surnames or personal information.
